Obituary: Gertrude Louise (Clintsman) Britton

DELRAY BEACH, FLORIDA - Louise Britton died peacefully on Friday, April 20, 2001, in Delray Beach, Florida. She was born, Gertrude Louise on May 26, 1907, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, daughter of Carrie and Hershel Clintsman. She lived in Casnovia, Michigan, Rockford, Illinois, and Madison, Wisconsin, where she graduated from Madison Central High School. She married Donald M. Britton on August 26, 1928, and she and Dr. Britton spent 56 years together before his death in 1984. She was active in the Madison General Hospital volunteer program and was a past president of both the Dane County Medical Society and the State of Wisconsin Medical Society. She was a member of the BC Chapter of PEO, the First Congregational Church while in Madison and the Church of the Palms in Delray Beach, Florida. Upon her husband's retirement, the couple moved to Florida. Louise was the loving mother of Beatrice Eckert of Springfield, Virginia, and Carolyn Carlson of Madison. She is further survived by five grandchildren, Suzanne (Clark) Rasmaussen of Santa Clarita, California, Diana (Scott) Hudson of Franklin, Tennessee, Laura (David) Maynard of Kissimmee, Florida, Gail Carlson (Philip Nyhus) of Waterville, Maine, and Andrew (Lisa) Carlson of Indianapolis, Indiana. She is also survived by six great-grandchildren. A memorial service was held on Sunday, April 22, 2001 at Abby Delray, Florida and her ashes were interred along side her husband at the Church of the Palms on April 25, 2001.
