Obituary: Theresa A. (Gambino) Pfeiffer - Class of 1944

MADISON - Theresa A. (Gambino) Pfeiffer, age 85, of Madison, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Nov. 23, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital, surrounded by loving family. She was born on Feb. 11, 1925, in Madison, to Peter and Madeline (Caruso) Gambino. Theresa graduated from Central High School in 1944. She worked as a bookkeeper at Madison Kipp and was proud to be a waitress at Josies for 50 years. Theresa married Ralph Pfeiffer on Sept. 28, 1946, and they were happily married for 64 years. Theresa always had a smile on her face, was always doing things for others, and was loved by many. She is survived by her husband, Ralph; son, Ralph Jr. (Renee); daughter, Annette (Ken); grandchildren, Max and Gina Pfeiffer; sisters, Mary Skaggs and Ann Cardin; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Sandy) Adams, Norma (John) Hanson, Esther Vergeront (Bill), Lauren (Jack) Pfeiffer and Marge Castillo; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens. A visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and nurses at St. Mary's Hospital. "God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so He put his arms around you and whispered, 'Come to Me.' With tearful eyes we watched you and saw you pass away. Although we loved you dearly we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best." Obituary: Joan (Rogge) Ream - Class of 1952

MADISON - Joan R. Ream, age 76, passed away after a brief battle with cancer on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital.

She was born on April 25, 1934, in Madison, the daughter of Otto and Olivia Rogge. Joan was united in marriage to Willis Ream on Oct. 19, 1953, in Madison. She worked at University of Wisconsin - Pyle Center for 29 years. Joan loved spending time with her family and enjoyed traveling. She was an active member of St. James Catholic Church.

Joan is survived by her husband, Bill, of 57 years; daughter, Susan (David) Jensen; grandsons, Matthew and Joseph Jensen; sisters, Lucille Bailey, Caryl Townsend, Arlene Mauel and Judy Reis; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JAMES CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1128 St. James Court, Madison at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, with Monsignor Thomas Baxter presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery. Visitation will be at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010.

The family would like to give special thanks to St. Mary's Hospital 5 Southwest nursing staff and oncology Drs. Amit Sanyal and Roy Kim for the care they gave Joan.

Obituary: Robert Ross Gabriel - Class of 1947

ASHEVILLE, NC - Robert Ross Gabriel, age 81, of Givens Estates, Asheville, N.C., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2010, at John F. Keever Jr. Solace Center.

A native of Armstrong, Iowa he was son of the late Richard and Genevieve Ross Gabriel. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Ellen Williams Gabriel.

The Gabriel family moved to Madison in 1941. Bob graduated from Central High School and the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy. He was co-owner of Ories and Shafer Pharmacies until his retirement in 1989. He married Ruth Williams in 1972 and they resided in Madison until they moved to Asheville in 1990.

He is survived by a cousin, JoAnn Crawford and her husband, Dean of Brevard, N.C.; his longtime caregiver, Debbie Bishop of Leicester, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison.
