Obituary: Amy Bates Bass Lippitt - Class of 1927

MADISON - Amy Bates Bass Lippitt, age 97, died peacefully, Wednesday Aug. 4, 2006, in hospice. She was lovingly cared for at the Chamomile Assisted Living Facility on Madison's eastside. Born in Baraboo, Amy moved to Madison in 1925, and graduated from Central High in 1927. That year, she married Reginald Alburn Lippitt, and they had 67 happy years together. While raising nine children, she was also the office manager for R.A. Lippitt & Sons Plumbing & Heating Co. Amy was an avid supporter of life-long learning and established a series of classes for seniors called "The Learning Place" in both Madison and Mesa, Arizona. She is survived by sisters, Judyann (Donald) Meyers and Betty Jean (William) Pitcher; children, Roger Alburn "Bucky" (Barbara), Nancy Nellie (Philip) Hillery, David LeGrande "Pete" (Roberta), Amy Jacqueline "Tootie", Lucia Ann, Daniel Harrison (Glenn Mitroff), Harry Richard; 30 grandchildren, 77 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Roger (Alva) Bass, husband, Reginald; and sons, Graydon Reginald, and Timothy Benjamin. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at 10 a.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery.
