Obituary: Neil Best - Class of 1960

LANCASTER - Neil B. Best, age 63, of Lancaster, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Mercy Medical Center in Dubuque, Iowa. He was born Oct. 16, 1942, in Madison, the son of Chester and Hazel (Tenjum) Best. He married Margaret "Maggie" O'Keefe on March 20, 1967, in Mankato, Minn. He served in the Air National Guard. Neil worked for the Grant County Highway Department for many years. He is survived by his wife, Maggie Best of Lancaster; his son, Patrick (Tana) Best of Bloomington; a grandson, Michael Best; his brothers, Dennis (Barbara) Best of Madison, and Richard (Mary) Best of Menomonie; his brother-in-law, Michael (Glenna) O'Keefe of Inver Grove Heights, Minn.; and his nieces and nephews, Natalie and Gustavo Best, and Michael and Sarah O'Keefe. He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol; and his brother-in-law, Walter O'Keefe. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the SCHWARTZ FUNERAL HOME in Lancaster with the Rev. David Froemming officiating. Interment will be private and at a later date. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. at the SCHWARTZ FUNERAL HOME in Lancaster, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Thursday morning.
