Obituary: Vincent J. Tortorice

MADISON [Wisconsin] - Vincent J. Tortorice, age 92, passed away on Friday Jan. 4, 2002, at Sunny Hill Health Care Center. He was born in Madison on April 13, 1909, the son of Joseph and Mary (Labella) Tortorice. Vince grew up in the Greenbush neighborhood and graduated from Central High School. He married Rose Sansone on Sept. 9, 1935. Vince was a brick layer and stone Mason, retiring from the UW-Madison. He was a 50 year plus active member of the brick layer and stone mason Union Local #13. Vince was a 70 year member and past president of the Bersaglieri Club. He was a very active sportsman, hunter, and fisherman. Vince was a member of St. James Parish. He is survived by his son Joseph (Audrey) of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Mary (Ed) Narum of Fitchburg, Wis., and Josephine (John) Baker of Madison, Wis.; five grandchildren, Leighann (Terin) Miller of Jersey City, N.J., Paul (Su) McDonald of Seoul, Korea, Todd (Pam) McDonald of Alexandria, La., Bonnie (Charles) Buckler of Apex, N.C., and Lisa Tortorice of Tucson, Ariz.; and many nieces and nephews. Vince was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Rose, on Feb. 25, 1998; three brothers; and four sisters. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. Private family services will be held. Entombment will take place in Resurrection Mausoleum. The family wishes to thank the staff at Sunny Hill Heath Care Center for their care of Vince in his last days.
