Obituary: Robert Eugene Kohl - Class of 1938

MCFARLAND/MADISON [Wisconsin] - Robert Eugene Kohl, age 81, died on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2002, at the Don and Marilyn Anderson HospiceCare Center, Fitchburg. He was born on Feb. 18, 1920, in Madison, a son of the late Lloyd and Helen (Claus) Kohl. He graduated from Madison Central High School in 1938. He served in the United States Marine Corps as a staff sergeant from 1937 until 1945. He was united in marriage to Laverne M. Jehn on Dec. 27, 1947, in Okauchee, Wis. Robert retired as a supervisor from Oscar Mayer, where he was employed for 31 years. He was a member of the Elks Club, McFarland Lions Club, Christ the King Catholic Church and St. Peter's Catholic Church. He is survived by four sons, Bill (Patrice) Kohl of Lugoff, S.C., Tom (Mona) Kohl of Fort Atkinson, Tim (Margaret) Kohl of Middleton, and Eugene (Susan) Kohl of Greenfield; a daughter, Francey (Ron Reis) Kohl of Woodbine, Md.; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Susan), Alyson, Joel, Jamie (Sam), Jesse, Josh (Susan), Benny and Madison Kohl, and Adam and Sarah Reis; and a great-granddaughter, Ivy. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laverne, in May 1992; and his parents. A memorial gathering will be held from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 25, 2002, at OLSON-HOLZHUTER-CRESS FUNERAL HOME, Stoughton, with a prayer service at 2:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to HospiceCare Inc. in lieu of flowers.
