Obituary: Edith L. (Bennett) Remy - Class of 1958

COTTAGE GROVE [Wisconsin] - Edith L. Remy, age 61, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the University Hospital. She was born on Jan. 28, 1940, in Stoughton, the daughter of Clifford and Muriel (Sproule) Bennett. She graduated from Central High School in 1958. Edith married Richard Remy on Nov. 27, 1959, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. She was owner of Central Service Company in Madison from 1985-2001. She was a member of the Madison Builders Association, N.A.R.I., and also St. Dennis Catholic Church. Edith is survived by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Deborah (Randy) Berg of Watertown; two sons, Gary (Barb) of New Orleans, and Jeffrey (Sheryl) of Cottage Grove; three grandchildren, Rachel, Michael, and Matthew Remy; four sisters, Anna Zick of Fla., Margaret Heer of Mo., Frances Anderson of Ariz., and Jane (Frank) Walczyk of Alaska; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Bennett; and a sister, Bertha Dreyer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Road with Father Jason Hesseling presiding. Burial will be in St. Raphael's Frenchtown Cemetery. Friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2002, at 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, where a scripture service will be held at 6:45 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Wisconsin Multiple Myeloma Support Group c/o Chuck Koval, 3406 Viburnum Drive, Madison, Wis., 53705.
