Obituary: Richard C. "Dick" Rogers

FORT MEYERS, FLA- Richard C. "Dick" Rogers, age 72, of N. Fort Myers, Fla., passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at home with his family by his side. He was born on June 2, 1935, in Madison, the son of Clyde and Wilma Rogers. Richard attended Madison Central High School where he met the love of his life, his wife of 52 years. He married Sally Christianson on May 4, 1955, in Beloit. He served in the Army and worked for the Madison Metropolitan School District for 30 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, golfing, dancing and loved going camping with his family and friends. He played softball up until 2001 and was recently put on the "Wall of Fame" in Florida. He is survived by his wife, Sally; sons, Richard R. (Jill) and Chad H. (Stacy); daughters, Debra M. (Kelly) Elliott, Tammy J. (Butch) Ziegler, Jodie L. (Mike) Spahn, Sally J. (Jerry) Muller; brothers, Jack (Lavonne), Royce, Tom (Lois), Pat (Carol); sister, Mary (Frank) Knox; 10 grandchildren, Richie, Dylan, Haley, Stefanie, Tony, Trey, Mike, Jesse, Cassie and Ayden who were all his little buggers; his many nephews and nieces; and Mike (Bette) David. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Wilma Rogers; brother, James Rogers; and twin brother, Robert "Bob" Rogers. There will be a celebration of life on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at 6250 Woodland Dr., Waunakee, and another in N. Fort Myers, Fla., on Saturday, Oct. 13, 2007, for all his family and friends. He was a loving husband, father, brother and grandpa. Richards smiling face and humor will be greatly missed by family, northern friends and his Florida family of friends.
