Obituary: Mary Jane Raymond Berg - Class of 1927

BARABOO - Mary Jane Raymond Berg, age 98, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2007, at St. Clare Meadows Nursing Home in Baraboo. She was born on Jan. 20, 1909, in Fond du Lac. She graduated from Central High School in Madison and on Sept. 21, 1929, married Oscar Theodore Berg. After 16 years of marriage, their only child was born on VE Day. Mary wanted to name her daughter Victoria Eugenia, but Oscar won out and they named her Mary Jane. Mary enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening and travel and was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. She retired from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ada (Tourtellotte) Raymond; her brother, Frank; and her husband, Oscar. She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane (Bob) Foote of Baraboo; two grandchildren, Maria (Dan) Dyslin of Madison and Oscar (Megan) Yturriaga of Burlington, Iowa; five great-grandchildren, Andre, Keats and Karina Dylsin and Isabella and Javier Yturriaga; four nephews, Lloyd, Tom, Steve and Dan Berg and their families. Mary was a wonderful mother and grandmother and will always be loved and missed, but never forgotten. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007, at 10 a.m. at TRINITY UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 1123 Vilas Ave., in Madison, with Pastor Bob Foote officiating. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church. The Redlin Funeral Home in Baraboo is assisting the family.
