Obituary: Nancy L. (Deering) Karabas

MADISON - Nancy L. Karabas, age 73, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2006, at her home. She was born on Nov. 24, 1933, in Madison, the daughter of Carl E. and Marvel (Ring) Deering. Nancy was united in marriage to George Karabas on Oct. 11, 1959, in Madison and he preceded her in death in 2001. She was a lifelong resident of Madison and graduate of Madison Central High School. Mrs. Karabas was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Madison. She was employed as a bookkeeper at Busch Beauty Salon, Madison and for her husband's business Chief Video, Madison. Mrs. Karabas also worked for a period as a clerk at the Boston Store. She was a huge fan of Brett Favre and the Green Bay Packers. Nancy is survived by her brothers, Delmar (Evelyn) Deering of Mount Horeb, Donald (Shirley) Deering of Kentucky, Robert (Mary Jean) Deering and Richard (Mary) Deering, all of Madison; her sisters, Alice (Verlyn) Dary and Ruth (Luther) Albert, all of Madison; special friend and caregiver, Hope Weichbrod (Ralph) of Marshall; a special niece who was like a sister, Denise; and numerous other nieces, nephews and friends also mourn her passing. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Dec. 22, 2006, at 2 p.m. at HOLY CROSS LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2670 Milwaukee St., Madison, with the Rev. Bernt Tweit officiating. Burial will be held in Roselawn Memorial Park, Monona. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday at the church from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
