Obituary: William "Bill" Schweinem - Class of 1940

MADISON - William "Bill" J. Schweinem, age 82, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2005, at St. Marys Care Center. Bill was born to Henry W. and Sena (Knudtson) Schweinem on Dec. 24, 1922, in Madison. He was a graduate of Central High School in 1940 and a proud graduate of UW-Madison in 1947. Bill served as a B-24 bombardier in World War II in the 5th Air Force of the U.S. Army-Air Corps. Bill worked for the credit department at Oscar Mayer from 1947 to 1985. He was also a very active member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. He made many contributions to the church such as assisting with the choir in which he also sang in, assisted as a reader and server as well. Bill dedicated his life to the church and did many wonderful things for many people at the church. He was a former golfer, bowler and model railroader. Bill was also a season ticket holder at Camp Randall Stadium since 1945. Bill is survived by his nephew, Tom (Sue) Ernser and their daughter, Megan of Madison; niece, Kathleen (Phil) Ernser-Norton of Argyle; two cousins, Ray Knudtson of Madison, and Dick (Inger) Doll of Madison; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Elizabeth Ernser. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held HOLY REDEEMER CATHOLIC CHURCH, 120 W. Johnson St., on Saturday, July 9, 2005, at 10 a.m. with Monsignor Paul Swain, the Rev. Michael Moon and the Rev. Lawrence Kieffer concelebrating. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 8, 2005, at JOYCE-RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 5701 Odana Road, from 4 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m. Another visitation will be held at church on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will be at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to St. Marys Intensive Care and staff and St. Marys Care Center and staff for their loving concern.
