Obituary: Edna (Speth) Seifert - Class of 1935

MADISON - Edna F. Seifert, age 87, of Madison, died on Thursday, April 28, 2005, at Willowbrook Nursing Home, Lake Mills. She was born on March 16, 1918, in Madison, the daughter of Ferdinand and Josephine (Blied) Speth. She has been a lifelong Madison resident. She graduated from Central High School in 1935. Edna then attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1939. At school she belonged to the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. She married William Henry Sandberg in 1940. In 1971 she married her childhood sweetheart, Warren Louis Seifert, and they were married for 30 wonderful years until his death in 2001. She is survived by a daughter, Barbara (Jack) Kerttula of Watertown; a son, Robert (Virginia) Sandberg of Jamestown, N.C.; a step-daughter, Kathryn (Roy Schenk) Seifert of Madison; eight grandchildren, Gregg (Michaela) Kerttula, Mark Kerttula, Joffre Schrandt, Justin Schrandt, Dave (Tara Watts) Parks, Steve (Dana Burmaster) Harkins, Vicki Harkins and Michael Sandberg; great-granddaughter, Kelsey Kerttula; a great-grandson, Ryan DeBolt; and daughter-in-law, Sandi Sandberg. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William Henry Sandberg; second husband, Warren Seifert; a son, James Sandberg; a step-son, Paul Seifert; her parents; sister Mary Speth; and two brothers, Charles "Chuck" Speth and Robert Speth. A memorial service will be held at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave., Madison, on Sunday, May 1, 2005, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Nick Utphall officiating.
