MONONA [Wisconsin] - Sadie M. Herr, age 95, of Monona, died on Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2001, at St. Marys Health Care Center. She was born on Nov. 17, 1905, in Terraville, S.D., the daughter of William and Rose (Niva) Matson. She graduated from Madison Central High School. She married Oliver Herr on Nov. 17, 1926, then moved to Monona on Gordon Avenue in 1936, and resided there until 2001. Sadie joined the Army Nurse Corps during World War II, serving in France. After the war she was employed as a registered anesthetist at Madison General, St. Marys and Methodist hospitals for many years, retiring in 1960. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1936, the Daughters of Trinity, Trinity Keenagers as a charter member, Business and Professional Women's Club, and a former member of the VFW on Lakeside Street. Sadie is survived by her nephew, Larry (Jean) Matson; and a niece, Loretta Paynter, both of Detroit, Mich.; special friends, Solvieg Sorenson of Madison, and Barb and Noel Johnson of Cottage Grove; and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oliver, in May 1941; mother and stepfather, Rose and Charlie Johnson; father, William Matson, in 1911; and a brother, Raymond Matson. Funeral services will be held at TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1904 Winnebago St., at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2001. The Rev. William Berg will preside. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park. Family and friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
