Obituary: Marlow O. Norsetter - Class of 1958

MADISON - Marlow O. Norsetter, age 71, of Madison, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Friday, March 23, 2012. He was born on July 24, 1940, in Madison, the son of Ollis and Helen (Vale) Norsetter. Marlow was a 1958 graduate of Central High School where he lettered in hockey when the sport was new to the high school. He was united in marriage to Susanne Kneebone on June 20, 1959, in Dubuque, Iowa. He worked in the lathing industry for 23 years, operated Red's Enco Service Station for five years and was self employed d/b/a Norsetter Remodeling until he retired. He loved hunting, fishing, ATVing and his 1932 Studebaker, "Rockne". Marlow also enjoyed coaching youth hockey for the South Side Hockey Association. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Susanne; sons, Phil (Sandra) Norsetter and Jeff (Jennifer) Norsetter; daughter, Kellee Norsetter; nine grandchildren, Philipp, Michael, Kyle, Jeffree, Nicole, Erik, Ryan, Cole and Jonah; three great-grandchildren, Jordyn, Oliver and Robert; many sisters and brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David Norsetter. A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from 10:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2012. Obituary: Judith A. (Stone) Selsor - Class of 1958

MADISON - Judith A. (Stone) Selsor, age 69, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 13, 2009, at her home, after a battle with cancer. Several family members were at her bedside. Judy was born in Wisconsin Rapids, on April 11, 1940, the daughter of Ferne (Gibbs) and Richard Stone. She graduated from Madison Central High School in 1958. Judy married Robert Payne on Aug. 2, 1958, at Trinity Lutheran Church. They had a son, Andrew. He preceded her in death in 1967. Judy later married William Selsor on Dec. 26, 1962, in Tulsa, Okla. They had three children, Jerrel, Brian and Stacey, while living in Oklahoma. Judy and her children later moved to Madison. She worked for 33 years at various federal agencies. The last 25 years, Judy worked at William S. Middleton Memorial Veterans Hospital, as a personnel assistant in the human relations department. She thoroughly enjoyed providing training and counseling to V.A. employees. Judy retired early from the V.A. Hospital in 1994, to provide daytime care for her first grandson, Scott, who was born the first day she didn't have to report to work. She also cared for her second grandson, Sam, who was born in 2003. Judy enjoyed caring for both of them. She was a member of Crosspoint of the Nazarene Church. Judy is survived by two sons, Jerrel Selsor and Brian Selsor (Ellen Carr and her son, Dylan); a daughter, Stacey (Steve) Schultz; grandsons, Scott Horstmeyer and Sam Schultz; her mother, Ferne DeWeese; and a sister, Nancy Stone. She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Stone; and son, Andrew. Funeral services will be held at CROSSPOINT OF THE NAZARENE CHURCH, 5011 Commercial Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009, with the Rev. Sam Starnes presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crosspoint of the Nazarene Church. Obituary: William T. "Bill" Kozak - Class of 1958

MADISON - William T. "Bill" Kozak, age 67, passed away on Saturday, June 2, 2007, at his home. He was born on April 1, 1940, in Columbus, the son of Peter and Marie (Teidt) Kozak. Bill graduated from Central High School in 1958. He was united in marriage to Sharon Schumann on May 13, 1967. While working in the sheet metal industry for many years, Bill and Sharon worked together to acquire rental properties, which they named Kozak Apartments. He took great pride in establishing his rental properties and perfecting the upkeep of the lawns and property appearance. Bill enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Sharon; two daughters, Angela (Steven "Reeno") Jacobs of Mercer and Melissa (Patrick) Klipstine of Madison; four grandchildren, Journey and Axle Jacobs and William and Abigail Klipstine; his mother, Marie Kozak of Madison; brother, Robert (Marilyn) Kozak of DeForest; and a sister, Darlene (Sonny Joyner) Lewis of North Carolina. Bill was preceded in death by his father. Funeral services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, June 6, 2007. Visitation will be at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. Obituary: Linda Suzanne (Crume) Howard - Class of 1958

Howard, Linda Suzanne (Nee Crume) Died at noon June 16, 2003, at Hospice of the Valley Sun City, Peoria, AZ. Born in Soldiers Grove, WI, on March 4, 1941, to Ellsworth and Elinor (nee Reese) Crume. She also lived and attended school in Baraboo and Madison, WI. Linda graduated Central High School in Madison on June 13, 1958 and later married Carl Hubbard and moved to Waukesha, WI. There she raised three children and worked in Challenging vocations as a secretary for SEWRPC, the Wisconsin DOT and Planner. Later she was Assistant Director for the South Eastern Area Agency on Aging in Wisconsin. She married James L. Howard in 1982 and their children blended together to make one family. They also welcomed to their home Rotary Exchange Students - Marie from France and Silvia from Brazil. Rotary GSE Team members from around the world also joined their family. Linda was active in the Waukesha County Republican Party in Wisconsin and the Campaign Manager for Tommy G. Thompson's first primary for Governor of Wisconsin. Mrs. Howard was appointed by Governor Thompson to the Board on Aging and Long Term Care when the appointment was approved by the State Senate. She served with distinction for two terms until she moved to Arizona in January of 2000. Mrs. Howard was also appointed by the Wisconsin Supreme Court to be a citizen panelist on the Medical Mediation Board. She was also a volunteer ombudsman helping residents in need at Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Milwaukee, WI. After graduating from full-time employment she worked as a civil process server with Badger Process and investigations, as a census crew leader for the US Dept. of Commerce Bureau of Census and a registered IRS Tax Preparer. Prior to her death, Mrs. Howard was approved and was to be appointed by the Arizona Supreme Court to become a member of the Foster Care Review Board. Sadly enough she will not be able to assist children in Arizona. Her family and many friends from around the world dearly miss Linda. Her father Ellsworth preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband James Howard; mother Elinor Crume, Madison, WI; brother John Crume, Viroqua, WI; daughters Suzanne (nee Hubbard) (Joseph) Seinko, Waukesha, WI, Sandra "Cinder" (nee Hubbard) Crider, Atlanta, GA, Christine (nee Howard) Miller, Madison, WI; sons Carl (Julie) Hubbard, Wrigtstown, WI, David Howard, Waukesha, WI, Mark Howard (CW04, USMC), Camp LeJuene, NC, Thomas Howard, East Troy, WI, Robert (Elizabeth) Howard, San Francisco, WI; as well as grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her special cat Sammy. Friends and family are invited to a Memorial Service to celebrate her life. Christ the Servant Lutheran Church, W250 S3635 Center Road, Waukesha, Monday, August 11, 2003. Obituary: Kay (Benseman) Gotzion - Class of 1958

MADISON - Kay Gotzion, age 64, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2003, after a brief illness. She was born on Dec. 4, 1939, to Mary Fox Benseman and George Benseman of Madison. Kay attended Lapham Elementary, graduated from Madison Central High School in 1958, and earned a B.S. in home economics and art from UW-Stout in Menomonie. While at Stout she belonged to Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, and continued her friendships at semi-annual gatherings. After college Kay became the first art teacher in the Poynette school system where she remained for five years. On Easter Sunday, April 10, 1966, she married David Gotzion at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Madison, and together they had two children, Gregg (Denise) and Amy (Jason) Gotzion-Peterson; and a grandchild, Nicholas Peterson. For the last 26 years, Kay has enjoyed working with all types of children in the Madison Metropolitan School System, 23 of those years at Schenk Elementary. Kay's wit, great sense of humor, and smile were enjoyed by all who knew her and she tried to always find the humorous side of things. Kay loved to cook and entertain and her artistic talents were enjoyed by all who knew her as well as making a warm and comfortable home. Kay is further survived by brother-in-law, Dean (Marion) Gotzion; sister-in-law, Doris (Ted) Payne; several nieces and nephews; her mother-in-law Evelyn Gotzion; and a cousin, Pastor George (Elaine) Qualley of Colorado Springs, Colo. Kay was preceded in death by her parents; and her father-in-law, Steve Gotzion. Memorial services for Kay will be held at ZION EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2165 Linden Ave., Madison, at 11:30 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 28, 2004, with the Rev. Pat Siegler officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Kay would like to thank her many friends and relatives who through their kindness and helpfulness made her last few weeks better. Obituary: Edith L. (Bennett) Remy - Class of 1958

COTTAGE GROVE [Wisconsin] - Edith L. Remy, age 61, died on Saturday, Jan. 26, 2002, at the University Hospital. She was born on Jan. 28, 1940, in Stoughton, the daughter of Clifford and Muriel (Sproule) Bennett. She graduated from Central High School in 1958. Edith married Richard Remy on Nov. 27, 1959, at St. James Catholic Church in Madison. She was owner of Central Service Company in Madison from 1985-2001. She was a member of the Madison Builders Association, N.A.R.I., and also St. Dennis Catholic Church. Edith is survived by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Deborah (Randy) Berg of Watertown; two sons, Gary (Barb) of New Orleans, and Jeffrey (Sheryl) of Cottage Grove; three grandchildren, Rachel, Michael, and Matthew Remy; four sisters, Anna Zick of Fla., Margaret Heer of Mo., Frances Anderson of Ariz., and Jane (Frank) Walczyk of Alaska; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Robert Bennett; and a sister, Bertha Dreyer. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at ST. Margaret A. (Hanold) Sasso - Class of 1958

MADISON [Wisconsin] - Margaret A. (Hanold) Sasso, age 61, died on Saturday, July 14, 2001. She was born on April 19, 1940, in Madison, the daughter of Lorenz "Duke" and Pearl M. Hanold. Margaret graduated from Madison Central High School in 1958. She married Emerald "LeRoy" Hewitt in 1959, and from this marriage came three sons, Larry, Gregg and James, and from these three sons came eight wonderful grandchildren, Mike, Tim, Brittany, Abby, Jacob, Grif, Cody and Jonah. She later married Fred Sasso. She was a teacher and then supervisor of IBA Beauty College for many years. She loved going to the cottage on Fish Lake, being with her grandkids and people in general. Anyone she touched during her short life will remember her and smile at something she did to make them laugh. This small person with the big heart and bubbly personality will be greatly missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Fred; three sons, Larry (Kari) Hewitt of Deerfield, Gregg (Shelly) Hewitt, and James (Jody) Hewitt, both of Madison; a stepson, Tony Sasso of Wisconsin Dells; eight grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth (Don) Schiffman of Forsyth, Mo., and Lorene (Gale) Botten of Duluth, Minn.; a brother, Bill (Sharon) Hanold of Lake Wisconsin; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2001, at 7:30 p.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive.
