Obituary: Genevieve (Jones) Jackson - Class of 1930

FITCHBURG - Genevieve (Jones) Jackson, age 102, passed away on Friday, Feb. 27, 2015. She was born to Margaret (Blaney) and Thomas Jones on Nov. 24, 1912, in Wales, U.K. She came to America with her family when she was 4 months old, and lived her entire life in the Fitchburg/Madison area. She attended Syene Grade School, Central High School, and Madison Business College. She worked 31 years for Wisconsin Telephone Co. (AT&T). In 1938, she married Erich Keller; he passed away in 1961. In 1962, she married Robert Jackson, who passed away in 1980. She loved to travel and visited every state and many foreign countries. She was a very active person, driving past the age of 95. She was a member of the Swan Creek Sewing Circle, the Cambrian Welch Club, the Ladies Auxiliary of Elks Lodge No. 410, Fitchburg Historical Society, the Fitchburg Senior Center and Grace Episcopal Church. She was also a Red Cross volunteer for many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She is survived by nieces, Aleta (Jackson) Barmore (Daune) and Barbara Stoneman; nephews, Robert Jones (Ellen) and Marc Jones (Lois); grandnephew and godson, Tom Stoneman; many other grandnieces and nephews, and their children and grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands; parents; sisters, Gladys Stoneman, Anna Hanson, Doris Gillette, and her twin sister, Dorothy, who died at sea at age 4 months; brother, Edwin Jones; and nieces and nephews, Neal Jones, Betty Gillette, Edna Cross, Harold Stoneman, Don Stoneman, Bill Stoneman, Dorothy Goddard and Janet Keenan. A funeral service will be held at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison, on Saturday, March 7, 2015, at 11 a.m. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Agrace HospiceCare in Gen's name. The family would like to thank the wonderful caregivers from Home Instead Senior Care and Agrace HospiceCare for providing excellent loving care for her final months.
