Obituary: Marion A. (Patzer) Bran - Class of 1948

MADISON - Marion A. Bran, age 81, died on Saturday, June 18, 2011, at University Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 22, 1930, in Elroy. She was the daughter of Walter and Frieda (Thompson) Patzer. Marion grew up in the Green Bush neighborhood in Madison. She worked at Bricker's Bakery, spent summers on the farm in Elroy, and graduated from Central High School in 1948. She attended the University of Wisconsin until meeting and falling for a handsome lifeguard at BB Clark Beach. She married Stanley C. Bran on May 8, 1951. Marion retired from Sears Roebuck in 1992. She enjoyed her flower garden, flower arrangements, card club, most of all helping daughter, Jenny sell trout at the Dane County Farmer's Market for the past nine years, and the many friendships that she formed there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Stan in 1982 and by her parents.

Marion in survived by daughters, Julie (Ray Williams) Bran of Madison, Janet (Hunter) Bohne of Avoca, Jill Bran of Lodi, and Jenny (Chuck) Anderson of Wesfield; brothers, Charles (Gladys) Patzer of Alberta, Canada, Robert Patzer and Jack (Arlene) Patzer of Madison; grandchildren, Lucas Bohne, Casey (Tim) Arendt, Ben Anderson, Spencer Williams and Carlie Anderson. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2011, at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 2418 N. Sherman Ave.

The family wishes to thank the Madison Fire and Rescue Paramedics and the UW Hospital ER Staff.
