Obituary: Gretchen L. (Glunz) Callaway - Class of 1935

MCFARLAND - Gretchen L. (Glunz) Callaway, age 89, left this life on Mother's Day, Sunday, May 14, 2006. She was born on Feb. 7, 1917, in Madison, the daughter of Albert and Catherine Glunz. Gretchen lived most of her life on the 900 block of Jenifer Street. She graduated from Central High School and worked at Wisconsin Telephone Co. and WI Power and Light. On March 6, 1950, she married Leon "Cal" Callaway at the Little Brown Church in the Vale, in Iowa. Gretchen enjoyed spending time with her many friends and family. We will miss her beautiful smile and bright blue eyes. Gretchen is survived by her four children, Greg (JoAnn) of Ft. Myers, Fla., Jeff of Marshall, Patti and Tim, both of McFarland; two grandchildren, Angela and Brent Langman; nephews, Paul Richard and Carl Dean Glunz; and nieces, Barbara Pophal and Karen Glunz Bagwell. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and two brothers, Paul and Carl. Funeral services will be held at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5529 Marsh Road, McFarland, at 4 p.m., on Thursday, May 18, 2006, with the Rev. Terry Peterson presiding. Burial will follow at McFarland Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church from 2 p.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. We want to thank the Skaalen Unit One wing, for all the love and compassion they showed to Gretchen and her family, in her time spent there.
