OREGON - Joseph Cordio, age 72, died on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at his home, in Oregon. He was born on June 16, 1933, in Madison, son of John and Edith (Haskins) Cordio. He graduated from Central High School and worked many years as an ironworker. He was on the board of the local ironworkers union. He served in the U.S. Marines in the Korean Conflict. Joe enjoyed bingo, golfing and especially watching the Badgers and the Green Bay Packers. Survivors include a daughter, Jacqueline (Ruben) Ochoa of Madison; three grandchildren, Mariano Dompablo, Melissa Dompablo and Damian Dompablo; a sister, Charlotte (Horace) Russo of Madison; a brother, James (Evelyn) Cordio Sr. of Belleville; and a brother-in-law, Russell Pien Sr. of Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Lynn; two brothers, Frank and John Jr.; and two sisters, Caroline Pien and Edith Kozak. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Hwy., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2005. Monsignor Thomas Baxter will officiate, with burial in Resurrection Cemetery. Friends may call after 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church until the service time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. A special thank you to the staff at V.A.
