MADISON [Wisconsin] - Richard A. Friede, age 66, died at his home on Wednesday, January 3, 2001. He was born in Madison on February 5, 1934, the son of Rienhold and Frieda Friede. He attended Madison Central High School. Richard joined the U.S. Navy and served his country during the Korean War. He was a golden glove boxer and boxed semi-professionally. Richard worked for the city of Madison for several years and also owned a residential painting business. Richard loved to play baseball and euchre, playing pool and spending time with his friends. He is survived by his brother, Kenneth Friede of Madison; sister, Beverly (Stan) Ninedorf of Madison; brother, Gerald (Arlyn) Friede of Madison; several nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Robert. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2001, at 2:00 p.m. at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, with visitation from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
